As we already know, looking good often leads to feeling good. For all of December, VanderVeer Center will donate 10% of proceeds to the YWCA - Yolanda House. Yolanda House provides emergency shelter, provisions and case management services to families escaping domestic violence.
1,225 volunteer hours So, for every ZERONA Body Slimming series, BOTOX Cosmetic or Dysport treatment, or any treatment from the VanderVeer Center exclusive services, you're not only going to look years younger and pounds thinner on the outside, but feel doubly good on the inside.
"A member of the YWCA Executive Board of Directors, I am keenly aware of both the need for a domestic violence shelter like Yolanda House, and the amazing work of the staff and volunteers there. The YWCA has a long tradition of fighting domestic violence and supporting survivors through programs, outreach and advocacy, and VanderVeer Center is proud to dedicate proceeds from one of our busiest months to support that work." says Dr. Elizabeth VanderVeer, Medical Director of VanderVeer Center.
In her 30's, Patricia (not her real name) came to the shelter after bouncing around from shelter to shelter throughout the state, trying to keep one step ahead of the man who abused her. Her abusive partner finally was arrested and put into jail for a minimum of six months. This gave Patricia some time to establish personal goals while feeling safe. She has family in another state and will be joining them soon.
Until now, she has not felt she could even travel safely as her ex-partner has been stalking her for more than two years. Working closely with case management enabled her to gain a discounted bus ticket, and Patricia will be traveling back home to be with her parents this month.
Charity (not her real name) and her three daughters, ages 15, 13 and 11 came to stay in the shelter to escape a long term domestic violence relationship. Her husband is in another state. During this family's stay at Yolanda House, Charity found out that her oldest daughter, Alison (not her real name) was pregnant. Yolanda House assisted the family in obtaining support services at Planned Parenthood. Alison then received proper nutritional information, vitamins and all pertinent information to ensure a healthy pregnancy. One of the younger girls is sight challenged, and the case manager assisted the school in finding an appropriate resource for special support for this child. All three girls were enrolled at a new school.
Charity has had an opportunity to seek out employment while the girls are all in school. She is on the waiting list for transitional housing, and has had six job interviews within the past few weeks.
